WESTFIELD, Mass.—Westfield State University has again earned recognition as one of Massachusetts’ top public universities according to U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges 2022” ranking list, which was released today, Sept. 13, 2021.

is tied for highest-ranking public university in New England for the second year in a row. Additionally, after jumping five spots over last year, is now ranked 85th among 171 institutions in the “Regional Universities–North.” It is ranked ahead of its peer Massachusetts state universities in that category, as well as among the U.S. News “Top Public Schools” list, where it placed #24, and the “Best Value Schools, among the regional universities, placing 72nd.

The annual rankings underscore ’s commitment to accessibility, affordability, and intentional outcomes. According to the publication, numerous factors determined the ranking: a peer assessment, retention and graduation rates, faculty resources, class sizes, student/faculty ratio, student selectivity, and the alumni-giving rate.
